The first sacrifice

 

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaks. Hebrews 11 v 4

Israel were instructed

An altar of earth thou shall make unto me, and shall sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee. Exodus 20 v 24

And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the LORD our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword. Exodus 5 v 3

A spotless Lamb

And the other lamb shall thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shall offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD. Numbers 28 v 8

Before anointing

And call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show thee what thou shall do: and thou shall anoint unto me him whom I name unto thee. 1saiah 16 v 3

Christians

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12 v 1

Disciples

God is the LORD, which hath showed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar. Psalm 118 v 27

Then Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount. Genesis 31 v 54

Danger

But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that showed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof: 1 Corinthians 10 v 28

And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. Ephesians 5 v 2

Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. Philippians 2 v 17

Gifts

But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Ephapoditus the things which were sent Romans m you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God. Philippians 4 v 18

Christ Sacrifice

Who need not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Hebrews 7 v 27

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Hebrews 9 v 26

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou would not, but a body hast thou prepared me: Hebrews 10 v 5

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; Hebrews 10 v 12

Sacrifice of Praise

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. Hebrews 13 v 15

Idols

As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 1 Corinthians 8 v 4

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? 1 Corinthians 10 v 19

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 1 Corinthians 10 v 20

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins. Hebrews 10 v 26

And the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Daniel 12 v 11

They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery. Hosea 4 v 13

Holy Spirits Plea
