Discipleship Lessons 6

God requires total sacrifice

Paul said.. I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me. And the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2 v 20

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12 v 1

And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The question is? ARE YOU WILLING ? ? ?

To renounce: The world? The flesh? The devil ?

The analogy of driving a car. Being a Christian is like

1/ Letting someone take hold of the steering wheel

2/ Totally surrendering all decisions and plans into His hands.

Example
God did not spare His only Son “ Jesus Christ” from sacrifice on the cross.

Hebrews 10 v 12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down at the right hand of God

All through the Old Testament: The sacrificial Lamb points to the “Lamb of God” of the New Testament. Jesus did not flinch in the garden of Gethsemane as He faced the cruel cross. He prayed: “Nevertheless not my will be done but thine”

Ephesians 5 v 2 and walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savor.

Abraham did not flinch when God asked his to sacrifice his son. God was testing Abraham but Abraham had faith to believe that God would raise up his son even if he were to sacrifice him. Genesis 22 v 12

Isaac was willing to obey his father and lay on the altar. Ready and willing to die. Trusting His father, He did not fight or resist when his father Abarahm tied him to the altar and raised the knife. Genesis 22 v 7-9

The disciples left their nets, their families, their village, to follow Jesus .

A Sacrificial Life

Pauls sufferings 2 Corinthians 6 v 4-10
Paul again Read 2 Corinthians 11 v 26-27

One evangelist promised God in prayer. Anything! Anytime! Anywhere!
God answered that prayer of dedication and used that man to gather in a harvest of souls!!

Matthew 16 v 24-26 Let a man take up his cross and follow me
