Article 31 – The Slate

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Phil 3 v 19

A letter dropped through the letter box onto the mat. Sheila went to pick it up.   It was from our neighbours. Apparently a slate had fallen off our roof and hit their daughter’s car could we please claim on our insurance? The letter was terse; I guess it had been written in haste and anger.  They wanted £25 for a replacement mirror     Sheila looked at me we were not insured. When the Lord called me to resign my job and serve him I was led to cancel all my insurances as I had been selling insurance. They were at that time like an ephod, something representing an idol, reflecting my earning ability and status. So I knew the Lord was prompting me to let them go.

Sheila suggested we write out a cheque for £25.00 now and put it through next doors letterbox with a note it was to be a testimony. Sheila wrote, we have no insurance policies but we do trust the Lord for His provision, please find enclosed a cheque for £25.00 . The Lords insurance is the best and the quickest as there are no forms to fill in!  We then dropped it into the letterbox next door and forgot all about it.

Some two weeks later we received a letter from Harlow from our neighbours daughter. Apparently they had taken the car into their garage for a replacement mirror and found that it had only required the glass to be replaced. The letter said,  “Thank you” and enclosed was a cheque for £15.00.

How we praised God for this opportunity to testify of his wonderful provisions for us..
