The battle

The concept of battle is everywhere in the bible both physically and spiritually, with conflicts, disputes victories and defeats.

.

So we ask the question,   “What are the lessons we are to learn”?                          2 Tim 3 v 16

Enmity between serpents seed and the woman’s seed..                                            Gen 3 v 15/ Rev 12 v 17

Are new recruits conscripts or volunteers?

Whosoever will may come/Human choice

Calvinism.                  Election/ Predestination

For the children not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purposes of God according to election, might stand not of works, but of him that calleth.                                         Romans 9 v 7 to 18

According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love. Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to his good the good pleasure of his will.                                      Ephesians 1 v 4

Great danger of wrong attitude. Because the Lord has chosen us /predestinated us before the foundation of the world that we can sit back and say, Well its all in the Lords hands and then we do nothing” Many have fallen into this trap. I heard one pastor say, “That I was casting my pearl before swine”. Because I preached Christ in the streets.  How very sad.

How shall they hear without a preacher?  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10 v 17

We still have the obligation to proclaim the good news and tell the people of Gods Salvation. Many are called, yes, but few are chosen. We must warn the righteous and the unrighteous           Ezekial 3 v 11

Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Endure Hardship

What hardships the prophets endured.   “And what shall I more say? For the time will fail me if I tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah; of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, waxed mighty in war, turned to flight armies of aliens.

Women received their dead raised to life again and others were tortured, not accepting their deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: and others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tempted, they were slain with the sword: they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, ill-treated  (of whom the world was not worthy), wandering in deserts and mountains and caves, and the holes of the earth.  And these all, having obtained a good report through  faith, received not the promise, God having provided some better thing for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect”

Hebrew 11 v 32/40.

Wherefore seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin, which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God
